The Maravai LifeSciences Foundation seeks out opportunities to contribute to the improvement of human health. Our giving supports charitable, scientific, and educational endeavors, with particular emphasis on advancing scientific education and innovation, supporting local communities in which we operate, promoting public health and access to healthcare, and advocating for inclusion and diversity.

Maravai LifeSciences Foundation is pleased to provide support to UC San Diego and the important work of the PATHways to STEM through Enhanced Access and Mentorship (PATHS) Program. PATHS is a scholarship and holistic student support program that supports underrepresented students pursuing STEM degrees at UC San Diego and is designed to mitigate historically evident barriers and establish an infrastructure of resources and support. The program prepares and affirms scholars’ confidence in their ability to pursue advanced degrees such as PhD, MD-PhD, and master’s programs mobilizing a new, diverse generation of leaders in STEM.

The Maravai LifeSciences Entrepreneurship Endowed Scholarship fuels the journey of USD students as they explore a future in innovation and entrepreneurship. It combines real world experiential learning along with the student’s educational endeavors and it serves as a roadmap for future success that includes networking, mentoring, and cocurricular opportunities before and after graduation.

The Maravai LifeSciences Student Discovery Endowment supports graduate-level research in the areas of cell and molecular biology, microbiology, and biochemistry at SDSU. Funds are provided to students as competitive research awards. We believe opportunities to engage in meaningful research are a critical component of graduate education and career preparation.

The Maravai LifeSciences Foundation fellowship was created to support the pharmaceutical chemistry doctoral program. The fellowship is intended to enhance doctoral student participation in education and research. The fellowship is considered a merit scholarship and recipients will be selected on demonstrated academic ability and special achievement. The recipients must have been accepted for admission to the University of North Carolina at Wilmington pharmaceutical chemistry doctoral program.

The Maravai LifeSciences grant supports the Palm Beach State College Biotech program and funds will be used to enhance the biotech program’s lab facilities. Monarch School

The Maravai LifeSciences Foundation proudly supports the Monarch School’s College & Career Readiness in STEM & Robotics Programs for Unhoused Students. Through this K-12 program, Monarch students participate in STEM programs through integrated daily classroom learning and STEM enrichment activities. Students learn about multiple medical fields, engineering, robotics, geodes, coding, the science of cooking, and more.

Girls Inc. inspires all girls to be strong, smart, and bold. The Girls Inc. experience helps girls build the knowledge, skills and confidence to effect change in their lives and in the world. Girls Inc. empowers youngsters to succeed by providing trusting mentoring relationships, a girls-only environment, and research-based, hands-on programming. Three critical goals drive their programming: to help girls achieve healthy lives, succeed academically, and acquire the life skills needed to prepare them for adulthood. They work to ensure that girls participate in programs and activities that support and expand on their school-based learning and engagement. It is also important that girls are motivated to set and achieve educational and career goals, particularly in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).

Innovation drives the future of health care, and our future scientists will drive that innovation – educating and inspiring the next generation in science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM) is vital to continued innovation. The Biocom Generation STEAM programming truly takes students from science projects to science careers. Their Pathways to STEAM program, specifically, prepares students to not only be successful in their first experience in a lab, but to take that success into their future careers.


Voices for Children

Voices for Children provides volunteer advocates to children in foster care. Founded in 1980, Voices for Children (VFC) transforms the lives of abused, neglected, and abandoned children in foster care in San Diego and Riverside Counties by providing them with trained, volunteer Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs). CASA volunteers advocate for an individual child or sibling group in court, school, and in the community to ensure their needs are met. VFC believes that every child deserves a safe and permanent home and strives to provide a CASA volunteer to every child in the foster care system who needs one. Last year, VFC staff and nearly 1,400 CASAs served more than 4,200 children across San Diego and Riverside Counties.


Curebound

Curebound is a San Diego-based 501(c)(3) philanthropic organization that raises and invests strategic funding in translational cancer research projects aimed at accelerating new discoveries to clinical application. With over $23 million raised and invested into collaborative cancer research, the organization has funded 90+ innovative research grants with six clinical trials currently underway. Curebound is founded on the deep-seated belief that cures are possible and that through the power of collaboration and the spirit of community, we can create cures in our lifetime.

For more than 35 years, CureSearch for Children’s Cancer has been a driving force in pediatric cancer research, working to ensure that every child diagnosed with cancer has a safe and effective treatment option. Their unique funding model is laser focused on accelerating the development of new therapies in areas of high unmet need; they only fund translational research projects with the strongest potential to become a new treatment and quickly reach patients. Together, we save lives faster.


Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation

The Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation is dedicated to finding cures for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis and improving the quality of life of children and adults affected. Since its founding in 1967, the foundation has played a role in every major breakthrough in IBD research and has invested more than $400 million into finding the causes, treatments and cures for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.


Alzheimer’s Drug Discovery Foundation

The Maravai LifeSciences Foundation is a proud supporter of the next generation of Brunswick County healthcare workers.  The MLK Health Careers Scholarship is awarded to two North Brunswick High School seniors who plan to pursue careers in healthcare. La Jolla Playhouse

San Diego Youth Services

San Diego Youth Services (SDYS) offers a continuum of care for children and youth from infancy to age 25. They provide safe places to live and long-term solutions through shelter, foster homes, community centers and housing. Through prevention, early intervention and treatment, they also help youth before they need higher levels of care or become homeless. SDYS has helped improve the lives of more than 823,000 homeless, runaway, and other vulnerable youth and provides services to more than 14,000 youth every year.


Voices of our City

Voices of Our City amplifies the voices of people impacted by homelessness through music and the arts. Choir Members develop renewed hope, personal empowerment, and the life skills to achieve their goals. Since 2017, the nonprofit has impacted the lives of over 275 unsheltered people, connected 30 adults to employment, facilitated more than 90 moves into safe shelter, and reached millions more in over 100 public performances. 


Social Advocates for Youth (SAY) San Diego
